4 barriers to remote system test, maintenance & sustainment

Remote system test, maintenance & sustainment.

Increasingly complex systems require diverse and specialized expertise to maintain, debug and improve. These experts require access to flows of system data to be able to diagnose problems, identify and forecast maintenance, and identify and plan systems improvements.

With time, expense and coordination an expert or system generalist can be dispatched to try to resolve system problems. Going to the system requires planning and coordination to align travel and maintenance activities with system operations. Or a team of experts may be required to travel to the remote site at greater expense. And these experts may support many systems located at the far ends of the world or with inhospitable climates, politics, or environments where work is difficult or dangerous.
